This should receive an applause; I mean for trying to upgrade Malaysian already complex and don’t-expect-anything public transportation service. Although we would like it if the system is more robust and reliable to save the heartache. Hey, at least we upgraded right? We need a pat on Malaysian shoulder now!

My verdict? I took the RapidKL from Universiti LRT Station to Midvalley. The bus driver gave me two options either a card for MYR5 with MYR3 value or MYR10 with MYR8 value. Basically its MYR2 for the card. Whatever left is for you to use. However, it’s kinda odd as there’s no cash slot available in the bus. What if you pay by cash instead of card? I guess the driver will reap the cash. Who knows right?
The how-to is straight forward. Just tap the card on the machine on embarking and tap again on alighting. Easy right?
I like the idea of how the card is integrated with LRT services. Say you take an LRT and then transit with a bus to Midvalley. However I expect that there is discount on the fare. A girl can dream right? But, it’s still a long journey ahead. *sigh*
Loopholes of the system
- The card is not valid for toll
- Cash is not accepted in the bus, only Rabbit Card
- The system is not reliable (machine broke down, discrepancy on stored value)
- Card can be purchased only at RapidKL bus
- Reload of card cannot be done at any LRT stations (which infuriates me! it’s kinda nuisance don’t you think?)
